In order to register for self employment in the UK, you can visit the HMRC website and sign up for Self Assessment. You will be asked to do this online via the ‘Government Gateway’. At the time of registration, you will give your name, address, National Insurance number and type of work. Once finished, you’ll get a UTR and are obliged to file an annual tax return. Register by the 5th October after the end of the tax year you began working yourself.
